Medical Microneedling
........................................................................
Microneedling also called Collagen Induction Therapy is an effective non-ablative procedure which helps to improve skin elasticity and can reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, and stretch marks. Ultrafine needles are used to create microinjuries to the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing process. In response to these tiny microchannels, your body boosts the production of collagen and elastin to repair, rejuvenate and build healthy new layers of skin.

Benefits of Microneedling
• Skin Rejuvenation: Initially developed for this purpose, microneedling stimulates collagen production and promotes a more youthful appearance.
• Melasma: Reduces hyperpigmentation
• Acne and Acne Scars: It reduces the appearance of acne scars and helps in managing active acne.
• Post-Traumatic and Burn Scars: Microneedling can improve the texture and appearance of scars resulting from injuries or burns..
• Stretch Marks: Microneedling can reduce the appearance of stretch marks by promoting collagen and elastin production.

Medical Microneedling Vs Cosmetic Microneedling

Medical microneedling employs needles ranging from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm. The medical microneedle cartridges have 12 needles made of medical grade stainless steel that create perpendicular microchannels in the epidermis of the skin. The depth of the needle is crucial in targeting the deeper layers of the skin, enabling scar tissue remodelling. Medical needling is performed by a health professional in a clean environment with sterilized, specialized tools.

Cosmetic microneedling uses shorter needles, less than 0.5 mm long. This form of microneedling is typically used for less intensive treatments and is often performed in a non-clinical setting. While it can still provide skin benefits, such as improved texture and mild rejuvenation, it does not penetrate as deeply as medical microneedling.

How does Microneedling work?
Medical microneedling equipment produces hundreds of tiny needle punctures in the skin. This micro trauma triggers the natural healing response of the body which in turn results in formation of new collagen, elastin and local release of growth factor

Safety and Efficacy
Microneedling is particularly advantageous for individuals with darker skin types, as it poses a lower risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation compared to other treatments that may damage the epidermis. Its minimally invasive nature makes it a safer alternative for various skin conditions. However, the procedure may not be safe for individuals who use certain acne medications, those with active acne, or those with moderate to severe psoriasis or eczema. It is essential to consult a healthcare provider to determine if microneedling is appropriate for your specific skin condition.
