Kim hails from Scotland, and earned her Masters in Rehabilitation Science (Physiotherapy) from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2010, having previously completed her B.A. in Sports Studies from the University of Stirling in 2007. She has extensive experience in sports rehabilitation and fitness training in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada.
Since moving to Vancouver in 2011, Kim has continued her professional development with extensive post-graduate education, including:
- The Connect Therapy Series™ (optimizing the function of the thoracic spine and ribcage)
- Functional Dry Needling (IMS)
- Anatomical acupuncture
- Pelvic floor rehabilitation
- Visceral/abdominal practices
- Orthopaedic manual therapy (to treat musculoskeletal conditions
- Mat Pilates
- Stott Pilates Reformer (training will be complete in 2018).
A Connect Therapy ™ Series Graduate, Kim believes in the whole body approach to assessment and treatment. She is committed to determining the underlying cause of her patients’ injuries while educating them about their conditions and changing the dysfunctional movement patterns through active rehabilitation. Striving for a balanced lifestyle for herself and her patients, Kim’s passion is to help her patients return to the activities they enjoy and to lead full, healthy lives, moving optimally and injury-free. Kim has worked with athletes who compete in mixed martial arts, dancing, cycling, soccer, rugby, triathlons and Olympic lifting. Her special interests lie in the treatment of:
- Chronic and acute injuries
- Complex pain cases/multiple injuries
- Rehabilitation of pelvic, spinal and thoracic issues
- Foot pain and dysfunction
- Hypermobility issues
Having competed in both water polo and rowing at university, Kim has since turned her attention to hiking, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, functional training and Pilates, and is at her happiest when outdoors or curled up with a good book. In June of 2017, she travelled to Tanzania, Africa, and completed a personal goal by climbing to the summits of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru within ten days. As a life-long dog lover, Kim is also training to become a Canine Rehabilitation specialist in her spare time.
