Kim completed her Masters in Rehabilitation Science (PT) from Glasgow Caledonian University and her B.A. in Sports Studies from the University of Stirling in Scotland. She has extensive experience in sports rehabilitation and fitness training in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada. She moved to Vancouver from Scotland in 2011, and is a firm proponent of continuing education and development. She has completed post-graduate studies here in orthopaedic manual therapy to treat musculoskeletal conditions. She is a certified anatomical acupuncturist through CAFCI (Certified by Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute) and integrates Functional Dry Needling into her practice. Kim’s ongoing education includes the Connect Therapy Series™ (optimizing the function of the thoracic spine and ribcage), pelvic floor rehabilitation and visceral/abdominal practices. She will be training to become a Stott Pilates teacher later in 2017.
Kim believes in the whole body approach to assessment and is committed to educating her patients about their conditions as well as speeding recovery and changing dysfunctional movement patterns through active rehabilitation.
She has worked with athletes who compete in mixed martial arts, cycling, soccer and rugby. Her special interests lie in the treatment of chronic and acute tendinopathies, neck, back and shoulder pain and injuries, foot and instability issues and hypermobility.
With extensive experience as a personal rehabilitation trainer, Kim is excited to offer individual training sessions and small group classes to complement her physiotherapy practice.
Kim strives for a balanced lifestyle for herself and her patients. Her passion is to help her patients return to the activities they enjoy and to lead full, healthy lives free from pain and injury. Having competed in both water polo and rowing at university, Kim has since turned her attention to the somewhat less painful pursuits of hiking, rock-climbing, functional training and Pilates, and is at her happiest when outdoors.
